laughing, not sobbing yourself to sleep

hello friends,

its been a while since i wrote (ok only a few weeks ago). but tegan has really been dropping the letters like crazy. so, this week its my turn to pass on some interesting bits of t+s information!

lets see...our best friend/brother joel graves is in the band EVEREST and they are on VAPOR RECORDS and their new album "GHOST NOTES " came out THIS past tuesday and it is an incredible album. we truly hope you will check this band out: here is the link...

joel drove tegan and i around the USA on our first opening tour in 2000. he is a great driver. and he is a good listener and has a warm and genuine nature. i suppose he could be one of those dudes who wrestles competitively on the weekend...but as far as i know...he's as gentle as a kitten and is part of a fantastic band making incredible music. SO CHECK IT OUT!!!

calgary friends and fans...we're coming to play the sled island festival in june! we're thrilled. i miss the bow river, and giant mosquito's, and those silos with cowboy hats painted on them. it seems like every time we perform in calgary i get sacked with home sickness i pretend doesn't exist! it will be nice to be back in our home "town" and we hope you'll come out and check us out!

the "lost forest fones" are up with more coming soon. check those out. we think they are grrreat.

apparently people would like to know if "emy the fish" is alive or dead. sadly, emy THE FISH, is no longer doing laps in the fish bowl. RIP.

emy, the PERSON, is just fine! in fact, her hair looks the best its looked. and she's done incredible new art for death cab for cuties brilliant new album (narrow stairs). she recently bought a bbq. she likes plants and still has a green thumb.

tickets are selling fast for our tour in europe. if you're waiting for pay day...it might be time to hit up the piggy bank...i'm just saying....

this leg of touring is almost done. it has been a collection of amazing moments. we've played a lot less hockey than i imagined pre tour. and i was sad to see both my teams eliminated from the hockey playoffs. (tears) i seriously LOVE watching AN HORSE perform each night. i truly feel like i am watching my favorite band. for 32-35 minutes a night i forget its a show that i am performing at. they are truly inspiring me and i am proud that all of you have been SO NICE AND WARM AND RECEPTIVE to their show each night. i feel like we have some of the most wonderful open minded fans alive. other people say that and they are mistaken. its all of YOU who are truly wonderful. yes i'm gushing. but i just have so much happiness for an horse, and for YOU. except the "you" who occasionally screams/whistles/talks/hollers through the speaking words in between songs. stop it. you make me mental.

OK! time for me to get to bed. i'm reading "fraud" by david rakoff. i've been re reading. he is the funnies human alive. i had to tell ted that i was NOT crying in bed, i was crying from laughter. sometimes that isn't clear. and i don't want people to think i'm sobbing myself to sleep. all nine of us slumber in close quarters, and that sort of...er..."private moment" that happens when you need to have a cry can be pretty awkward. this tour has been full of hysterical laughter on my part. i'm just saying.

be well friends!
