thank you to everyone who came out to our two shows in london this week! it was great to be back in the UK and we are planning to make the trip again in may. to those of you who came from spain, and austria and germany, (and australia!) to see us play, thank you for your support. it is still amazing to us that so many of you have come to see us play from so far away.

on a more serious note:

to who ever stole our capo's off the stage after we played at the water rats show in london:

we dont come to your house and steal your things. perhaps you were caught up in the moment, but just so you know, we felt very upset by it. we are trying to make music as our job, but that doesnt mean we have money to replace our equipment every night. it wasnt as if you stole one capo either, you stole all of them!

(as if stealing one wasnt bad enough!)

tegan and i love making music, and we take great care in everything that happens around us (right down to stitching the heart to the backdrop) we take pride in our equipment and our music. we care about the people who come to our shows and we want to respect everyone, as well as be respected by everyone.

please dont steal our equipment off the stage! take the set lists, but please, dont take the pedals or other equipment off the stage.

also, we have noticed a lot of people yelling weird sexual comments at us. its hard to address these when we are on stage, and sometimes its easier to ignore them.

but please, if you are in the audience and you hear someone being offensive, say something! we can all stop people from being sexist or from being innapropriate. if i was in your audience i would stand up for you! its ok to yell stuff, or tell us how you are feeling.

its hard to feel confident on stage when you feel like you are being objectified. we have to take care of eachother. we think sexism and hombophobia and racism and classism and all other ism's are terrible. i dont know how to stop it, but i want to address it so everyone knows we are uncomfortable when it happens.

we love playing music, the fact that we have "fans" is so incredible to me, and i personaly feel lucky every night when i look into the audience and think that everyone is there to hear music we wrote in our bedrooms. thank you to everyone who respects us and our music and our gear!!!

ps (tegan speaking now) As I read and reply to our fan mail I wanted to add something to sara's entry based on feedback we have been getting since she posted.

Sara and I are not offended or horrified and want people to stop yelling things like 'you're hot" or "have my babies". She/We mean that when people tell us to take our shirts of or to shut up and play or enough foreplay lets fuck...ect" we feel awful and do not think that is okay.

We do not expect anyone to start a fight or stand up for us in the way that some of you are taking it. She meant that if someone is being totally innapropriate and there is a bouncer near buy you could say something or if they don't look big and mean you could suggest that we are not the type of band that likes to be talked to that way. We play a lot of all ages shows and we don't like the idea that a 12 or 14 year old kid has to withdraw or be afraid of drunked loogans making derogatory comments.

So keep the comments coming, we like to read your email and we like to hear that you are happy to see us at shows or you want us to have your babies....we just don't want you to demand we take our clothes off..

Cool?

Oh and Sara was talking about more than just the London shows. Don't worry our Lovely British fans it was not just our shows there that were getting trashy it has been a long time coming...okay? Okay!
